Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve lies west of Aberdeen, between Aboyne and Ballater, within the Cairngorms National Park. 12 miles of paths meander through native woodland and around Loch Kinord. Walking quietly, you may see otters, ducks and geese on the loch or red squirrels in the woods. You can take a short walk to "the Vat" - a giant pothole carved by melting ice during the last Ice Age.
The whole Reserve is very important for wildlife and we want people to visit and enjoy it while respecting wildlife and other visitors. So, we ask all our visitors to take their litter home, keep their dogs under close control and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
The toilets are open from March- October. The Visitor Centre is open at weekends from Easter - October, or otherwise by arrangement.
Phone or visit our website for more information.
