THE GREEN TOURISM BUSINESS
SCHEME
The Green Tourism Business Scheme,
has been running since 1997 and with over 2000 members across the whole
of
the UK and Ireland,
it
is the largest and most established scheme of its type in the World. In
Scotland the GTBS was developed in partnership with VisitScotland and it
is recognized by UK national and regional government as a crucial
part
of its drive towards sustainability. Our aim is to build on this strong
position and ensure that the UK remains at the forefront of sustainable
tourism in the future.
OWNERSHIP
The scheme
was developed by Shetland Environmental Agency Ltd
(SEA Ltd) and this company holds the primary copyright and intellectual
property rights to all scheme material, criteria, workbooks, audit & report
forms etc. SEA Ltd provides technical and management services to the GTBS.
Green Business UK Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2001
to deliver the GTBS and provide auditing, advisory and membership services.
The criteria and other scheme materials are solely for the use of businesses
wishing to join the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Copying or use of the
criteria or other scheme material for any other purpose will be subject
to approval by Green Business UK Ltd for which a charge may be applicable.
ADVISORS & AUDITORS
Green Business UK Ltd is the sole authorised advisory & auditing
company for the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Only advisors trained and
appointed
by Green Business UK Ltd are authorised to advise or audit a business on
their performance under the GTBS criteria. Individuals wishing to become
appointed as authorised GTBS advisors should contact Green Business UK
Ltd. for terms & conditions.
Non-appointed advisors may not represent the GTBS and should not claim
to understand the details of the audit requirements or award levels as
they relate to any site. They should inform the business of their unofficial
status in relation to the GTBS.
Application packs & criteria will only be sent directly to businesses
and not via a third party or advisor. All applications to the GTBS must
be made by the business and not through a third party or advisor.
Advisors wishing to obtain a copy of the criteria for the purpose of advising
businesses on the GTBS should contact Green Business UK Ltd. for costs
and conditions. |
