Here in the green heart
of Scotland is a magnificent, varied landscape of high mountains,
tranquil lochs and glens and clear rushing burns. The area
also boasts a glorious woodland heritage and a rich mix of
outstanding individual trees, unique in a European context.
Perthshire is the perfect playground for those who enjoy the great outdoors
and you’ll find endless opportunities to connect to the power of
the natural world. In an area of 2000 square miles walkers can enjoy almost
every conceivable type of walking, including an impressive network of over
250 miles/400km of waymarked paths, all through unspoilt countryside full
of wildlife. Perthshire is a stronghold for red squirrels and home to many
other species such as osprey, golden eagle and red deer. Three National
Cycle Routes pass through Perthshire and there are miles and miles of quiet
roads and off road tracks. For those seeking heightened adrenalin levels,
the area offers an extraordinarily diverse range of 35 adventure activities.
Ever tried abseiling through sparkling waterfalls or experienced the thrill
of white water rafting down Perthshire’s mighty rivers?
Often called `Scotland’s Larder`, the Perthshire environment is also
famed for providing fine quality produce. From venison, beef and lamb to
wonderful mineral waters, world famous whiskies and over 90% of all Scottish
soft fruit. Perth is proud to be the first `Cittaslow` town in Scotland – part
of an international network of over 100 European towns with good food,
quality of life and sustainability at its heart.
